Mekong Multiply

Their primary approach in joining God’s mission is to mobilize national Christians as missionaries to the unreached peoples in their own countries, to engage each one with reproducible approaches leading to the multiplication of disciples and churches until all are reached.

Water Mission

We are a team of builders. As engineers, marketers, implementers, fundraisers, volunteers and donors, each of us is building an important piece of a solution that lasts. Each engineering plan, pipe fitting, and installation is a piece of a solution that God is using to place communities around the world back to where He intended them to be. We believe we are following His blueprint. God never intended for some to have safe water and others to suffer. So each of our actions—in partnership with yours—adds up to lives saved.

Jon and Mirza Keehn

After seeing the condition of fatherlessness and broken families in the surrounding villages Jon traveled back to El Faro 3 more times in 2014 and shared his heart for discipling men with the leadership and they made the decision together that Jon would move to El Faro in April 2015 to begin serving in men’s and pastor’s ministry.

The River Coffee House

Roberto and Cali

We opened the doors of The River Coffee House to provide hope in the form of job opportunities to minority groups of Guatemala. We firmly believe that opportunity is the catalyst that can change someone’s life. Poverty, violence, addiction, and broken families are all often a result of a lack of hope, resulting from the lack of opportunity. A lot of times people are trapped in cycles by no fault of their own , with not a lot of ways out.

Since I was 17, I believe God has been guiding my path and shaping me for an adventurous ministry.

Mayra Duran

Hi! My name is Mayra Duran and I’m from Guatemala.

I have a willing heart for God and missions.

I’ve been doing missions in my own country for ten years now. I started as a volunteer at Mision El Faro where I helped as an interpreter, teacher in the Bible Sunday School, and with some youth with special needs. Now I’m back in Guatemala City and I’ve been partnering with other organizations and missionaries as well, helping as an interpreter.

Jonathan started working at the ministry El Faro in 2012 in accounting. Later he felt called to volunteer in the youth group and kids’ Bible club. In 2016 they were called to serve God in working full-time with the soccer ministry.

Tommy and Katie Matthews

Tommy and Katie met in Guatemala in May 2010 while he was serving as a missionary and she was on a missions trip. After two years of long distance, Tommy and Katie were married in July of 2012. Though the two shared a heart for international missions, they felt God leading them to stay in Kansas for their first months of marriage. In May 2013 tornadoes struck Oklahoma and Tommy felt God leading him to serve families affected by the disaster with Nazarene Disaster Response. With much prayer the Matthews decided to move to Oklahoma and work as volunteers for the Church of the Nazarene, helping with debris cleanup, reconstruction, remodeling, and team coordination and communication. Tommy and Katie served in Oklahoma from May 2013 until January 2014. The Matthews returned to Guatemala in February 2014 to serve alongside those working at El Faro.

Keith and Dawn Brutout

In the year 1999, Keith embarked on his first mission trip to Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic. Immediately, the heart of a missionary birthed inside him; upon returning home, he became involved with a ministry called Outreach Mission Commission at his local church. Keith eventually learned about Guatemala, particularly a place called El Faro (The Lighthouse). Today, Keith is part of the staff at El Faro as the U.S. representative and leads missionary teams from around the U.S. to El Faro, Guatemala. But it does not end here! In the year 2013, Keith founded the Independent Missionary Network with the vision of helping independent missionaries fulfill their dreams. This is the dawn of great new things that God will be doing in and through the lives of Keith and Dawn.

A "Three-cord" Approach to Ministry

Taken individually each cord is not unique. However, when taken together and with our Statement of Faith, why we serve, how we serve and who we serve creates a distinct approach to ministry.
